1904 Terrot ‘Modele A’ Gent’s Road Bike

Lamplugh of Paris Saddle

Coaster Brake

28″ Steel Wheels

No 2 Handlebars

Terrot Bell

(Now sold)

This rare early Terrot is cosmetically unrestored.

The attractive Lamplugh saddle is in superb condition.

It has been mechanically renovated and is ready to ride.

The options for this model included a coaster brake, which has been fitted to this example.

The chainwheel is similar to those on Terrot’s racing machines but, as you can see from the catalogue details reproduced below, this is a road bike. (The difference between the two being mudguard mounts and fittings to mount a rear brake; not used here because of its coaster hub and dropped handelbars).

Early racing bicycles are now very hard to find. The dropped handlebars and racing-style chainwheel on this machine provide a sporty look but, instead of fixed wheel, you have the luxury of freewheel and coaster brake.

Of course, if you did want to turn it from the ‘Modele A’ road bike into the ‘Modele B de Course’ (catalogue detail as below), it would be easy to remove the rear mudguard and change to a fixed rear hub.
