Any permutation of frame and fittings could be ordered by customers of F.H Scott of 59 Murray Rd, South Ealing, London W5. The customer who ordered this particular upmarket tandem specified a ladyback touring version with the best gears available – the Trivelox, which was manufactured by Triumph. The Trivelox gear is not a common configuration, and nowadays is quite sought-after by collectors. The machine itself has attractive styling with a cross frame design.
The tandem has a Chater Lea front hub fitted with Veeder cyclometer, Williams chainset (dated 1934), 4 matching Shockstop racing handlebar grips (replicas), matching pedals (post-1930s), original rear carrier and an attractive full lighting set (untested). Inspecting the machine, I can only find a repaired rear mudguard and damaged rear saddle top to complain about. The rear tyre inflates but loses air after a few days, so will need a new inner tube or valve. The front brake is an attractive Resilient, while the rear is a cable operated hub brake as part of the Trivelox gear. This fast touring tandem would have been the king of the road in its time, no doubt seeing service with weekends at the seaside for city-bound owners.
The Scott is in well preserved original unrestored cosmetic condition, with two of the original transfers (decals) faded but one readable. According to the transfer (and the catalogue) their machines were named ‘Dragon’. The machine is in very good mechanical condition and ready to ride.
