My friend has an 1898 De Dion Bouton 1 3/4hp 2-Speed Motor Tricycle for sale in excellent condition.
With around 15,000 units sold, the De Dion-Bouton tricycle was the most successful motor vehicle in Europe from 1897 until 1901. Its success was due to its reliability. 120 years later, it remains a favourite option if you’re looking for one of the first motorcycles or automobiles, and it’s practical to use for events such as the London-Brighton Pioneer Run.
As well as the Bosier 2-speed gearbox, it has a spray carburettor. The tank on the back holds both oil and fuel. It is road registered and has a certificate for the Pioneer Run. The paperwork is also currently being prepared to register it for the annual Veteran Car Run.
My friend has written a book on the history of De Dion Bouton (I’ve reproduced some of the illustrations, and a copy is included in the sale). It’s located in Brighton, UK, and I can arrange delivery worldwide.
