1920s-WONDER-MALE AND FEAMLE BICYCLES

In the early days of cycling, while they were courting, a tandem may have been suitable for a couple to go riding. However, the arrival of the bicycle also heralded a new era in female empowerment, and women generally preferred the independence of their own bicycle.

Some couples bought ladies’ and gents’ models from the same maker, though it’s rare for these pairs survive intact and together. So I’ve paired up a few matching machines…
