1906 ‘Special Triumph’ No 1 Roadster

Having introduced a cheaper model in 1905 – the ‘Standard’ Triumph – to satisfy demand from agents who were losing sales because of the company’s high prices, Triumph Cycle Co continued the trend in 1906 with the ‘Special’ Triumph. Of course, it was made to the extremely highest standard, as were all the company’s products; but its fittings were more basic. There was no three-speed gear or band brake, and it used ordinary mudguards rather than the distinctive valanced style on the expensive Triumphs.
