The Dursley Pedersen is an iconic machine that is probably more popular now, 12 decades on, than it was at the time. It certainly represents an era when bicycles were hand-built to a remarkably high standard, and when Britain led the world in their production. Until World War One, British bicycles were in fact the most expensive in the world.

This example is for restoration. It’s an excellent project because it is mostly complete, and while the metal has surface rust it is very solid with no dents or damage to the frame. It has lost its original woven saddle (which are available). The brake levers are from the 1920s. The handlebar grips are 1930s. The tyres – ‘The Advance Roadster’ – appear to be its originals. I believe it was last on the road in the 1950s, and it has been in dry storage since. If you look at the photos of the exposed 3-speed gear you can see that is packed with grease, which shows that it has been cared for.

The UK’s national Dursley Pedersen meeting takes place in April, 2025, which would give its new owner and restorer ample time to prepare it for that popular event.
