“Nowadays a catalogue must be attractive, and in the race for supremacy in this line Triumph show up most effectively. Every type of machine is shown mounted by exactly the type of cyclist who might be expected to ride it…”

– Cycling magazine, 1st February, 1911

Below you can see, as Triumph would have it, “the type of cyclist who might be expected to ride” a Royal Triumph.

1911 Royal Triumph No 5C Roadster

27″ Frame

28″ Wheels

Frame No 197873

(Now sold)

The Royal Triumph is a fast lightweight road bike, totally original and unrestored. When I bought it the rear wheel rim was rusted through, so I had the hub rebuilt into a similar Westwood rim. As you can see in the final photos, it retains its original Triumph freewheel sprocket. The transfers (decals) are faded and there is a split in the saddle, though it is usable. All the items unique to Triumph are present – eg 36 hole front wheel, inverted brake levers, eccentric bottom bracket, Triumph mudguards and brakes. This was a top machine in its day …and it was obviously built to last, as it’s still in very good all round condition and ready to ride.
