Borrowing the descriptive style of the copywriters of the period, this exquisite machine is the absolute epitome of bicycle refinement. Actually, it’s not easy to find sufficient superlative words to describe it, and photos don’t really do it justice. The standard of engineering and quality of its finish is first class.
This machine is in wonderful original unrestored condition, and is a pleasure to ride.
In the 1980s, its age was estimated by John Pinkerton as being 1913. However, I have now researched it more closely. The Singer and Premier Cycle Companies merged in 1919, and you can see that it has Premier pattern mudguards, so its age is obviously 1920s. The 1926 Singer catalogue states: ‘This is the revival of a special model which enjoyed a world wide reputation in pre-war days.’
