26″ Wheels with solid tyres

(Now sold)

1920s Warrick Carrier Open Chassis 20

Warrick & Co supplied their carrier tricycles as a bare chassis for the sum of £20 15/- or, for an extra charge, with a body suited to the customers particular trade. The company’s advertisements stated that –

many standard bodies are fitted to suit the following trades:

BAKERS … DRAPERS … GROCERS

BUTCHERS … DYERS & CLEANERS … LAUNDRIES

CHEMISTS … FISHMONGERS … OUTFITTERS

CONFECTIONERS … FRUITERERS … PRINTERS

DAIRYMEN … GREENGROCERS … WINE MERCHANTS etc

…In addition, Special Bodies can be made to suit the requirements of any class of delivery

This Warrick Carrier Tricycle is ready to be fitted with its bespoke front end. I have an open wooden box for it, measuring 3′ x 2′ x 2′, and a Dunlop rubber saddle (preferred for carrier bicycles and tricycles because they withstood heavy all-weather use better than leather).

Once the front box is fitted, it can be sign-written to a customer’s individual requirements.

One wheel is a bit buckled, but this carrier tricycle still rides fine. This style of solid tyre is the typical type used on early carrier tricycles.

As you can see below, the rear hub is marked with the name of ‘Warrick Cycles.’
