1930s Schwinn Century ‘Motobike’
18″ Frame
28″ Wheels (28 x 1 1/2″ tyres)
Serial No 445860

With its ‘Motobike’ tank and headlight, and motorcycle style saddle, this model was aimed at younger brothers who wished they were old enough to ride a real motorcycle.
The Schwinn ‘Motobike’ with 28″ wheels was current between 1928 and 1932, to be superseded in 1933 by new Schwinn models with 26″ wheels and balloon tyres. So it’s not that common the USA any more. Here in the UK it’s quite novelty as its tank opens by flipping a catch underneath. This is the sort of detail that amuses spectators at steam rallies and shows, so I can imagine it will appeal to collectors who like an interesting machine to ride and display. The previous owner fitted new red tyres for it that he bought from Germany and this interesting 96-year-old bicycle is ready to ride.
