Rambler was the name that Norman Cycles of Ashford, Kent, used for their export models. This rare Rambler Autocycle was exported to Canada when new, and it came back to the UK around 50 years later.
I bought it in March 2009 and MOT tested it that summer. It started easily and ran well. However, despite cleaning the tank, there was still some fine silt in there so the filter needed emptying every now and then.
After riding it that year, I put it into storage, where it has remained until I got it out again recently, fifteen years later. The engine turns over though I’ve not started it. It’s in good original condition as you can see from these photos, and should not take much fettling to put it back on the road. Though there are some similar Norman Autocycles in the UK, there are very few Ramblers anywhere in the world.
