With a 24″ frame and 28″ wheels, the Rudge De-Luxe Tourist was very much a reminder of prewar British cycle styles. It was a popular bicycle in its day, but was sold alongside numerous other models and nowadays there are not many surviving examples with burgundy enamel. This taller frame version of the Model 103 was available only by special order, so is rarer still.

This rare Rudge has been cherished throughout its lifetime, and was restored several decades ago. The paintwork is in good condition and there are the remains of the original transfers (decals) on the seat tube, rear mudguard and chaincase. Though the paint looks original as it has weathered over the years, I think it was resprayed as part of its restoration. The Raleigh inflator pump is a similar colour and it is fitted with Rudge (named) pedals, a large Wrights saddle and Sturmey-Archer ‘Model AG’ Dyno-three speed hub. Everything works well and it’s ready to ride.
