Priced at 16 guineas, the 1904 Dursley Pedersen Lady’s Royal Roadster was one of the most expensive bicycles in the world. Its quality and unique design made it worth the outlay.

This Dursley Pedersen Lady’s Royal Roadster is one of the best unrestored original examples of any vintage bicycle I’ve owned. The saddle was replaced some years ago: hammock saddles are prone to losing their threads with use, and even this newer one has a few lose threads. I can’t find a frame number on it (apparently a common issue with early lady’s models), but it is a smaller model with 26″ wheels. The saddle height is adjustable: at the moment it is adjusted up. All I’ve done since buying it is fit new tyres. The Royal has been kept in good mechanical order and is ready to ride.
