1947-1950 Raleigh ‘All-Steel’ Cutaway Display Frame
This Raleigh cutaway display frame was presumably used for shop displays or exhibition work. I believe it was made in the late 1940s, at a time when Britain’s need for export orders meant that its cycle industry was seriously engaged in promotional activity around the world.
It’s hard to date this frame accurately. Liquid brazing was in use from the 1920s onwards. I examined 1930s Raleigh catalogues, and brazed-on pump clips appear to have been introduced in the mid-thirties. But the ‘All Steel’ logo appears to be in a re-designed style that I assume to be post-War.
