1966 Triang Bluebird Pedal Boat
with plastic body
LENGTH: 42″
WIDTH: 17″
HEIGHT: 20″
After plastic was first introduced for pedal cars, it became brittle over the years and broke easily, so very few of those toys have survived. By the 1960s a higher grade of plastic was used. Nevertheless, plastic is fragile …and children are not usually careful with toys they use. So not so many of those survived either. The Triang Bluebird Pedal Boat is a rare item today, even more so in first class condition like this example.
Originally they were fitted with a spotlight on the front. As that item is missing, this one has an extra flag in its place. Apart from that, this boat is original and …ready to float? I didn’t try floating it in the lake. But it has pedals and a rope. So it is ready to ride or to pull along.
