MOON EQUIPMENT Co (MOONEYES)
Santa Fe Springs, California, USA
Dean Moon started the company in the fifties from humble beginnings, but the name soon became synonymous with the American hot rod/ custom car scene, and today it is a worldwide business. Moon Discs were an instant success. In the late fifties they sold 10,000 in one month.
The discs are still used on custom cars today.
In 1999, Dyno produced 1000 of these Mooneyes Cruiser bicycles for Moon Equipment Co, to showcase their new 26″ Moon Discs for bicycles.
I bought this cruiser in 2007 (and sold it in 2009). As you can see, the Dyno/GT Mooneyes Cruiser was not my only machine to sport Moon Discs. I also had some fitted to my modified 1966 VW Roadster.

DYNO
California, USA
Dyno was started by Bob Morales in 1982. Says Bob:
“Dyno moved out of my garage into a small warehouse in Huntington Beach, California. Dyno added BMX number plates and other accessories to its product line. Dyno sponsored the “SE Racing” and “GT BMX/Freestyle” teams and ran full page color advertisements in BMX magazines helping Dyno to become well known in this new growing sport throughout the entire world.”

Any greaser worth his weight in pomade knows you can’t cruise chicks on a rust bucket. That’s why the cats at GT really souped up this year’s Kustom Kruisers. One spin on these babies and you can smell the spirit of the road. Every Kustom Kruiser conjures up fresh memories from America’s car-crazed glory days, late-night carhops, hot rod hangouts and of course, the girls. Bottoms up!
In celebration of Harley-Davidson’s 95th Anniversary, GT Bicycles created a limited edition bicycle, the Velo Glide Ultra. Production was limited to 1,000 bicycles. GT Bicycles worked closely with designers at the motorcycle company to ‘capture the heritage and spirit of Harley-Davidson in a bicycle.’ Susan McPherson, Senior Manager, General Merchandise declared: ‘The Velo Glide Ultra succeeds in every respect.’
Bearing in mind that Harley Davidson did originally build ‘tank’ bicycles to resemble their motorcycles of the day, it must have been a considerable challenge to create a modern HD bicycle. Here it is…

This is my newest machine so it’s ideal to end this museum display: in the photo above, this creation from the end of the 20th century hobnobs with a bicycle manufactured just as that century turned, a 1901 Ladies Royal Sunbeam.
