1931 Agache Gents Bicycle with CURLY CRANKS!
28″ Wheels (Tyre size: 28 x 1 1/2 40-635)
(Now sold)
This unique machine sports the oddest pedal cranks you’re likely to find.
Around 1930, some French cycle manufacturers experimented with ‘curly cranks’ in an attempt to improve pedalling action.
Much debate ensued over whether curly cranks solved the problem of ‘dead centre.’
Similar cranks were sold as aftermarket items in Europe and Great Britain. Later examples were made by Rosa and also Chandez of St. Etienne. This set appears to be the earlier version.
