Overman Wheel Co, maker of the Victor bicycle, was one of America’s leading cycle manufacturers until the end of the bicycle boom. The company went out of business in 1899. But in its heyday, with many unique innovations, the Victor was one of the world’s best bicycles.
1887 Overman Victor Light Roadster Ordinary
54″ Wheel
My friend Phil has owned this 54″ Victor for over 20 years, and has ridden it regularly. He did a century (100 mile) ride in Tasmania with it, as well as riding it through Jordan, Israel and Egypt. It has been to France many times, has completed the London to Brighton, Brighton to Paris, and was raced in the past few months.
Phil restored and renickeled it 20 years ago. New rims have been fitted, and the saddle’s leather top was replaced. Otherwise all the parts are original. This 130-year-old state-of-the-art machine is well set up, fast, and ready to ride and race.
