1933 Skippy Racer wooden coaster wagon
Rear foot brake
Soon after American National introduced their ‘Skippy’ line, they employed famous streamline stylists Harold L Van Doren and John Gordon Rideout to redesign their entire range of riding toys, and the wooden coaster wagon featured here was replaced with a metal version. I’ve not managed to find any contemporary advertisements showing a wooden bodied Skippy wagon. I suspect that as soon as thir streamline metal-bodied version was introduced,, the company dumped the earlier wooden models to be sold via Montgomery Wards or other retail outlets without displaying Skippy logos.
