1957 BSA Keep Fit Ladies

BSA’s ‘Keep Fit’ range of ladies’ and gents’ bicycles was launched before the war to much fanfare. Below you can see the cover of one of BSA’s promotional leaflets from 1938 issued to their agents around the country. During the war, the company reduced their range, but continued with the Keep Fit models. Even the Imperial War Museum have one. It was popular with the public so was continued through most of the 1950s.

The BSA Keep Fit range was so popular that it continued for at least ten years after its introduction in the 1930s. This example is virtually unchanged from the prewar models, apart from its Tour Of Britain label on the seat tube and a Raleigh style front mudguard. Raleigh took over BSA in 1957. Although the Keep Fit no longer appears in the BSA catalogue by then, I assume it to be older stock fitted with the new mudguard.

It’s a well-preserved survivor, with original paintwork and all its transfers (decals) intact. The tyres hold air, but should be replaced for riding.
