1935 Elswick Utility Milkman’s Carrier Cycle
X Frame design
(Now sold)
I was a milkman in 1980 (I started the morning round after my all-night taxi driver shift). It kept me fit, but the pay was too low to support my young family so I quit after 2 months. Nevertheless, I have fond memories of driving the electric milk-float, so I set this Elswick up with churns plus a money pouch, to turn it into a milkman’s bike. I’m not sure how well it would steer with churns full of milk! It’s in excellent condition and would be a fine addition to any collection of tradesmen’s bicycles or X Frames.
